General Aims

The project promotes the use of computer supported collaborative learning for mathematics and aims at widening the collaboration with more European teachers and the creation of a school network. Also it aims at better focusing the didactic aspects of the use of free software for maths teaching in collaborative school activities, involving other scientific disciplines, pulling together the good practices and effective teaching methods which can be replicated for using in classroom, determining instructional tools which are appropriate and will best explain the some concepts in mathematics, such as statistics, probabilities, equations, functions etc. 

Especially our objectives are: 
1. Popularization of mathematics and dissemination of its usefulness among young people 
2. enlightening the meaning of maths and showing its importance in different areas of science and life 
3. exchanging experience in teaching maths among teachers 
4. improvement of teaching skills/methods 
5. meeting other teachers/exchange ideas 
6. showing possibilities of ICT in teaching and learning maths 
7. encouraging students to widen theirs knowledge and broaden theirs mind through maths 
8. making use of maths for communication with young people from different countries 
9. discovering interesting and surprising maths models in daily life 
10. developing communication among teenagers from different countries 
11. practicing foreign languages 
12. showing different ways of applying maths in different branches of knowledge in the modern world 
13. arousing the interest of young people for mathematics 
14. making the students aware of using maths each day Pedagogical value The task of the teacher group involved in the project is to create a friendly mathematics environment and to stimulate the students’ creativity, to let them choose and express their own solutions individually and together. 

Thus, the students’ personal creative ability will be an asset. Pedagogical use of ICT tools We’ll use the educational environment of: EXCEL, MATHGV, GEOGEBRA & GEONEXT (free mathematics software) and other software like presentation/video, web publishing, video-conferencing tools (Skype), browsers, e-mails, graphics software (Corel Draw/Adobe Photoshop) and text editors.
