Gaudi's parabolic arches

Beautiful Barcelona and the genius of Gaudi

These are catenary arches!

Under the roof of Gaudí's Casa Milá, Barcelona, Spain

The catenary is the shape of a hanging flexible chain or cable when supported at its ends and acted upon by a uniform gravitational force
(its own weight).

Don't confuse! These are not parabolic arches!

GREECE

The school: We have 44 classrooms; 2 computer and 3 physics-chemistry-biology laboratories, a centre for science, a centre for career orientation, a library, an amphitheatre and offices. We also have two play yards, basket and volleyball courts and a gym. We have 220 students from 15 up to 19 years old and 32 teachers. The pupils (the majority) are taught English or French and participate in school activities, school celebrations, basket, volley and athletic events.

We have received many awards in multimedia & educational software concourses, in sport and music competitions, art contests, for the production of a film as well as for publications of students’ articles in papers and magazines.
Our school has participated in Comenius/Socrates-Lingua/Mobility programmes and in many eTwinning projects, because we believe that the school should break the barriers between countries and bring together all the young people in Europe. The European dimension in our every day life ought and can begin from the school…

ROMANIA

“Liviu Rebreanu" School: 45 classrooms; 2 computer Science labs;1 Physics lab; 1 Chemistry lab; 1 Biology lab; 1 Religious Education office; 1 library with a reading room; 1 modern gym hall, sports grounds; 1 psycho pedagogical office; 1 regional speech cabinet; 1 social assistant office; 1 medical office; 1 school masters office.
The administration of the school consists of a principal headmaster, an adjunct headmaster and a responsible for programs and educational projects. We also have 3 secretaries, a documentary, a computer, a library, a laboratory, a pediatrician, 2 nurses, a social worker, a speech therapist, a psychologist, 3 mechanics, 3 guards and 9 caregivers.
Our school has taken part in many contests and Olympiads. It is involved in about 300 e-Twinning projects, Think Quest, YRE, ECO projects and since 2009 in a multilateral Comenius project with partners from Malta, Poland, Lithuania and Italy, entitled “If you want to see the beauty of the world, first you have to find it in yourself”. We also take part in county and national projects in order to motivate our children and to improve their knowledge and skills.
